Mrs Manley was very proud of the pupils from years five and six who took part in the maths day organised by Oundle School. The children took part in various challenges with one of our teams finishing second out of the twenty four teams taking part.
Congratulations to the pupils from years five and six who took part in the writing event organised by St Cuthbert’s Great Glen Primary School. The children spent the day working with children’s author Colin Parson’s and created some wonderful writing.
Well done to the pupils from years 5 and 6 who represented the school in the basketball tournament held at Robert Smyth Academy. The crowd of supporting parents took great pleasure seeing them playing with great enthusiasm and energy and the team should be very proud to have won the tournament without losing a match.
It was a great pleasure to see our pupils from years five and six perform at the Birmingham Arena this week as part of the Young Voices concert. They were part of a choir of over six thousand pupils and performed alongside a range of performers, the street dance group seemed to be the most popular with the children. A big thank you to Mr Kirkland for organising the trip and preparing the children. Thanks also to Mrs Edwards, Mrs Hollis, Mrs Byrne and Mrs Cooper for singing and dancing along with the children.
Thanks to Rev Jonathan and Emma Dowman for leading our Christingle service this week. It was a wonderful occasion and lovely to see so many parents and carers joining us for worship. The service included a chance for the children to learn about each of the elements of the Christingle, readings from pupils, staff and parents and concluded with the lighting of the Christingles the children had brought in from home.
Well done to the pupils in years three, four, five and six who represented the school in the swimming gala held at Market Harborough pool. The squad did brilliantly with pupils competing in individual and relay events. Thank you to Miss Parker and Mrs Cooper for supporting the squad.
Well done to the team of pupils from years five and six who represented our school in the recent Dodgeball tournament hosted by Robert Smyth Academy. The team played to a great standard and finished in third place in their group. Thank you to Mrs Edwards for coaching the team.
It was a pleasure to accompany our team of year five and six pupils who represented the school in the maths challenge organised by Leicester Grammar School. The children competed against pupils from many other schools in a range of mathematical challenges and really enjoyed the experience.
We were very proud to see our school recognised in the recent Sunday Times league tables for primary schools in England. Our school was ranked 80th in the country out of 14,930 schools and was the only school in Leicestershire to feature.
The outcomes for pupils at the end of their time at primary school were used to calculate the rankings, looking at the scores achieved in reading, grammar and maths. We are pleased to see these achievement recognised but are equally proud of the learning that takes places in the areas of the curriculum which are not nationally measured such as art, music and physical education. We believe our pupils achieve these high outcomes because of the dedication of our whole staff team and the wide opportunities we offer across the curriculum.
