At Church Langton we are passionate about ensuring every child fulfils their potential and becomes an all-round exceptional citizen with the skills needed to succeed in life. We design our curriculum to ensure it is fully inclusive of every child and that it addresses each aspect of how a child develops, progresses and grows both academically and emotionally. We continuously monitor our curriculum to ensure we meet our statutory duties under The Equality Act 2010 and The Special Needs and Disability Regulations 2014 in making the curriculum accessible to all pupils.
Our PSHE teaching provision promotes opportunities to link British values with Social, Moral, Spiritual, Cultural (SMSC) and economic responsibilities. It helps to give children the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to lead confident, healthy, independent lives and to become informed, active, responsible citizens. At Church Langton CE Primary School, children’s well-being, happiness and safety are our first priority and PSHE is the key vehicle through which we share this with children. We provide our children with opportunities for them to learn about rights and responsibilities and appreciate what it means to be a member of a diverse society. Our children are encouraged to develop their sense of self-worth by playing a positive role in contributing to school life and the wider community. We regard PSHE as an important, integral component of the whole curriculum. We aim to enable children to meet the End of Key Stage Statements as set out in the PSHE and Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education Guidance 2019.
The subject is taught in isolation through the Cambridge scheme as well as through all areas of the curriculum. It is underpinned by the school’s Behaviour and Discipline Policy and our school values. Circle time is used to practice essential skills and to develop positive attitudes.
During their time at Church Langton CE Primary School, the children will learn about:
- Relationships focusing upon family and people, caring friendships, respectful relationships and asking for help
- Health and wellbeing- internet safety, online relationships, road safety, keeping themselves safe, mental wellbeing and growing and changing
- Living in the wider world
At Church Langton CE Primary School, we are committed to providing a caring, friendly and safe community environment for all of our pupils so that they can learn in a relaxed and secure atmosphere free from discrimination of any kind.
