We were delighted to host Whizz Kids which is organised by Welland Valley Cycling Club. The afternoon involved twenty seven children joining in riding around the field and playground and playing various games. Thank you to the organisers and to Friends of Church Langton for their assistance in organising the day.

On a wonderfully sunny afternoon the new four plus pupils welcomed their parents to school. It was a chance to see how well the children have settled, meet with staff team and for the year six buddies to introduce themselves. A big thank you to FOCLs for organising this lovely event.

Members of the school council were given the opportunity to take part in the Diocese of Leicester Advent service held at Leicester Cathedral this week. It was lovely to worship with staff and pupils from schools right across the Diocese. Thank you to Mrs Manley, Mrs Byrne and Mr Knowles for accompanying the pupils.

It was a great pleasure to see the pupils in four plus, year one and year two perform It’s a Baby. All of the children played their different parts brilliantly and we had two sold out performances to proud parents and grandparents. Thank you to all the staff who were involved in this excellent opportunity for the pupils.

The pupils in year four, five and six were treated to a performance by from Leicester Grammar School’s Symphonic Wind Band. The children enjoyed hearing many Christmas tunes and were inspired to see the older pupils playing a wide range of instruments.

Thank you to the pupils and staff from Leicester High who visited to perform a Christmas themed anti-bullying play to our pupils this week, the children loved the experience.

Congratulations to our fantastic swim team who did brilliantly at the Market Harborough gala this week. Our team achieved excellent results across the disciplines and should be proud of their achievements in this competition for the larger schools in the Market Harborough area.

Thank you to all the parents, grandparents and carers who joined us for decorations morning. The children had a wonderful time creating all kinds of cards and decorations. A big thank you to our cleaning team who did a brilliant job later that evening.

4+ had a brilliant visit from the Explorer Dome. The children were all dressed up in fabulous space costumes and loved clambering into the dome and seeing huge projected images of the moon, astronauts, planets and stars. They were told some wonderful stories about the stars they could see in the night sky and they learnt how to join the stars together like a dot-to-dot to make pictures. They particularly liked the story about Orion and Sirus. The children had a go at using their own imaginations to look up into the dome to create pictures from the stars.

Over the past year our school has been involved in a collaborative project with schools across the region entitled Routes to Resilience. This is a program that develops staff and pupil awareness about the character ‘muscles’ which we all develop as part of our learning. The project led by Mrs Edwards has impacted on many aspects of our school and we are delighted to have been recognised as a Routes to Resilience accredited school.
