Sports Clubs - Autumn Term 2016

Breakfast clubs

Get set club (run by Mr Williams, our sports coach)

This is run on a Monday morning before school (8 – 8.45).

Taekwondo (run by Mrs Ginger)

This is run on a Tuesday morning before school (8 – 8.45).

Hotshots Basketball club (KS2)

This is run on a Wednesday morning before school (8 – 8.45). Hotshots takes place at a number of different schools around the Leicestershire county. The Church Langton Club is always exciting and enthusiastic. We have taken part in a number of tournaments including ‘The County Cup Final’ which is where the best teams battle out for the biggest trophy Hotshots has to offer. Once again, we have an excellent team with ages ranging between 7 – 11 years old. We have a very strong chance of making the cup final again. The children learn everything from basic dribbling skills all the way up to tricks that can be used in matches and tournaments.

Badminton (run by Mr Williams)

This will be run on Thursday morning before school. It offers a fun way for children to learn the basic necessities of skill level needed to play the game, whilst creating an enjoyable and playful atmosphere.


Lunchtime clubs

Tag Rugby (Years 5 and 6)

This is a club run by Mr Williams on a Tuesday lunchtime. He will be developing the skills of our potential rising stars and will provide training for our Tag Rugby team that will represent the school in matches.


After-school clubs

Yoga (Mondays)

Football (Mondays Years 1 to 4 – run by FDS)

In football, we learn the basic skills needed to develop a child’s basic football ability as well as incorporating the fun aspects of the game.

Tag Rugby (Tuesdays KS2 – run by Mr Hanna and Mr Williams)

Tag Rugby is perfect for those wanting to progress into contact in the future, with key passing skills being taught. Mr Hanna teaches Tag Rugby after school, with support from Mr Williams, on Tuesdays.

Aussie Rules Football (Wednesdays KS2 – run by Pacesetter Sports)

This is a great new after school club that introduces children to Aussie Rules Football.

Hockey (Wednesdays KS2 run by Gaynor Nash – Leicester Hockey Club)

This is a great new after school club that helps children develop the hockey skills learnt in PE lessons.

Multi-skills (Wednesday KS1 – run by Premier Sport)

Multi-skills is a club for KS1 which allows them to develop skills such as throwing, catching and target practice.

Netball (KS2)

Mrs Edwards runs a netball club afterschool on a Wednesday. This session is run to develop the skills and game play of the pupils and will also be used to help select teams for up coming matches with local schools. We will focus on the rules of ‘High 5’, passing and shooting techniques.

Boys Football (Fridays KS2 – run by Premier Sport)

Football club operates once a week on a Thursday after school and allows the boys to practice varying skills. The boys then compete in regular matches and participate in tournaments. As the term continues the competitive fixtures will increase.
