Children from years four, five and six took part in a dance festival held at Robert Smyth Academy this week. They were given a forty-five minute challenge to prepare a dance to then perform to an audience of parents and teachers. Miss Parker was very proud of their superb group effort.

Well done to the maths team who represented our school in a competition which we hosted at the Langton Community Hall this week. We were proud to support National Down’s Syndrome Day. Thank you to everyone who wore odd socks and to Mr Ferguson for leading our assembly. We raised a total of £65.00 which will be donated to Ups N Downs, a local charity who support young people with Downs Syndrome and their families.

Well done the girls’ football team who played in a tournament held at Market Harborough football club. The girls played well in a series of games and should be proud of their performances. Thank you to Mr Knowles for coaching the team.

The class had a fantastic trip to Rock UK in Irthlingborough enjoying the many different opportunities to them. Thank you to all who attended the phonics information session by Learn-AT English Lead Practitioner Sarah Walker. It has been great to hear the positive feedback from the session and the impact of the new teaching strategy we have implemented in phonics.

The year three class had a very enjoyable trip to Flag Fen as part of their learning about the Stone Age to the Iron Age. The children uncovered artefacts in a dig, learning about the role of archaeologists and then discussed what they had found.

Pupils from years five and six enjoyed the opportunity to visit Loughborough University this week as part of a wider group with five other local schools. The children had a busy day experiencing different elements of the university campus. Thank you to Mrs Hollis for accompanying the children.

Thank you to Rev Alison and Rev Rosie for leading our Ash Wednesday service this week. The children enjoyed learning all about the significance of Lent to Christians and many decided to try having the ash cross on their forehead.
