RE and Collective Worship
At Church Langton CE Primary School we ensure our pupils’ cultural development is enhanced by an exciting, stimulating and relevant RE curriculum.
We use the Leicestershire Agreed Syllabus and the Church of England’s scheme, Understanding Christianity and NATRE, to guide our teaching. We always link events and celebrations from a range of faiths and cultures into our themes and topics so that they are relevant and meaningful for the children.
Our teaching is delivered in line with the Church of England’s Statement of Entitlement. If parents wish for their children to be withdrawn from RE or collective worship, please contact the school office.

We have strong links with the village church and visit it regularly for services and celebrations, as well as having regular visits to the school by local Reverends. Our children also visit a variety of places of worship in Leicestershire to ensure diversity and respect for others' beliefs are experienced first hand.
Collective Worship
As a Church of England School, at Church Langton Collective Worship is at the heart of school life. It happens every day, in various different forms, which give all children an opportunity to learn, celebrate and respond to Christian Values drawn from the Bible. Collective Worship songs are linked into the Value and help children reflect further on its meaning.
Pupils from years three to six successfully applied to become part of the Collective Worship Council.
The aims of the team are:
- To help other children understand why we have collective worship
- To help with the running of collective worship
- To make older children more engaged in collective worship
- To make collective worship more fun e.g. new songs, actions, interactive
- To be the pupil's voice
- To model the correct way to behave in collective worship
Collective worship music
We have many songs that we sing in collective worship and the council will capture the ideas of pupils about which new songs we should learn with Mr Kirkland.
