It dropped through the letterbox after they contacted the veteran broadcaster and environmental campaigner, to say he would be the topic of their upcoming history project – about the lives of significant people.

Year One class teacher Lauren Bromley told HFM they were delighted to get the hand-written reply and her 25 pupils have each been given a framed copy of the letter.

Sir David’s links to Leicester, having grown up in the city and being inspired by its nature, including Bradgate Park, made the children even more excited to learn about him.

These pupils told HFM what they know about him and about receiving a copy of the framed letter.
